現地時間１８日午後から１９日朝にかけてのＡｌｅｎｕｉｈａｈａ 海峡横断航海は、３５ｋｔくらいまで吹き上がる風波をアビームに受けて、なかなか大変でした。島影に入った真夜中過ぎからは次第に収まり無事に昨日朝８時（日本時間２０日３時）、ハワイ島コナの数キロ北にあるダイナマイトで掘って作ったHonokohau Harbor に到着。中へ入って給油岸壁に付けてハーバーマスターに「７５歳の女性が乗っているので沖どまりは大変なので中に泊めさせてくれ」と頼んだら、前日はいっぱいだと言っていたのにＯＫが出ました。ハワイ島の高山に降った雨が岩盤に浸透し湧き水としてハーバー内に出てくるから、とハーバーマスターが説明してくれましたが、港内の水は澄んでいます。
到着後カスタムを呼んでもらい手続きをし、午後ワイキキヨットクラブで世話になったＪａｃｋさん紹介のＢｏｂさんが車で迎えにきてくれ、彼のコーヒー園へ案内してくれました。奥さんのバーバラさんと半ば趣味で３エーカー１５００本のコーヒーの木を栽培しＫｏｎａ Ｐｒｅｍｉum Ｃｏｆｆｅｅとしてインターネット販売しているそうです。おみやげに４パックもいただきました。
今日はレンタカーで観光の予定。明日午後、いよいよマルケサスへ向けて出発です。あるハワイのヨットマンが、マルケサスを目指したがあと６０マイルのところであきらめツアモツへ行った、といってました。貿易風帯で如何にＥａｓｔｉｎｇができるかにかかっているようです。マルケサスの中の東の島のヒバオアへ行く予定ですがヒバオアの経度を通り越して更に東に行って戻るようにして到着する予定です。
The sailing from 18th afternoon to 19th morning across Alenuihaha Channel was tough with up to 35kt North East wind. But we could safely arrive at Honokohau Harbor before 8 AM of July 19th. When I telephoned to Harbor Master and explained one of the crew is 75year old lady ,so we were eager to be allowed to moor inside the harbor, he accepted.
After custom!s clearance , Jack-san's friend Bob-san (both are Waikiki Yacht Club's members) came to pick us up by his car in the afternoon and took us to his coffee farm. Bob-san and his wife Barbala san roasted four packs of coffee in front of us and kindly presented us.
Today we will rent a car and do some sightseeing. We will leave here tomorrow and start sailing to Marquesas. A Hawaiian sailor said he tried to go to Marquesas but he had to give up at 60M before reaching there, and went to Tuamotu instead. Easting is the key. We have to go more east than the Longitude of Hiva Oa once and return to teach there.
