 １０日月曜も休日でＶＨＦでハーバーマスターと話はできたものの手続きは火曜まで待てとのこと。食料を買いたいといったら、それくらいなら上陸してよいと許可が出たので上陸して町見物。

 今日火曜午前中２時間くらいかかって入国手続き完了。

湾のすぐ北側に湾を見下ろす山があり、ガイドブックにケーブルカーで上る写真があったので、楽しみにしてましたが、ケーブルカーが無い！２年前に軽飛行機が空中ケーブルに触れて墜落、廃止になったとのこと。高岡さんはあきらめきれずに片道４時間の登山に一人で出かけました。

　この町はサマーセットモームの小説”雨”の舞台になったところで、モームが宿泊していたホテルが今も残っています。　

　雨季でもないのによく通り雨が来ます。道端にマンゴーが鈴なりの大きな木がありました。落ちてたのを食べたらおいしかったそう（高岡氏）。マーケットでマンゴーもパパイヤも１ドルです。　

　道路には古い乗用車に木製の客室を付け派手なバスに改造したのが沢山走ってます。どこまででも１ドル。　レストランの昼食は１人前が３人前くらいの大きさでアメリカ以上でびっくりでした。

　We could finish entrance procedure at last this morning. We had landed and done town sightseeing and bought some food yesterday with Harbor Master's approval on VHF.There was a hotel where William Somerset Maugham stayed and wrote a novel"Rain". A big mango tree at the street side was full of fruits. Picked up a fallen fruit and ate, was very good.

　Colorful car converted buses are running frequently. 1dollar for 1 ride regardless of the distance. In a sightseeing guidebook, we had seen a picture of a cable car going up to the top of a mountain on the northern side of the bay. We were looking forward to riding on it. But it disappeared. Some one told us a small airplane crashed against the cable and it was abolished.
