今日も指宿で台風通過待ち

８月１日、台風１２号が鹿児島南部の西方を通過中で風雨が強い。明日２日も佐田岬沖は３５ｋｔ波高４－５ｍらしいので出港は３日とすることにし、今日もコーラルビーチﾎﾃﾙのご厄介になることに決定。強風雨の中、レンタカーで知覧へ出掛け、特攻平和館を訪れ、若くして散らなければならなかった特攻隊員の遺書にまた涙しました（僕は２回目）。知覧武家屋敷も行こうとしたらあまりの風雨であきらめ、池田湖畔へ。ここも風雨で湖はかすんでいました。池田湖パラダイスというドライブインに大きくなれば２ｍ２０ｋｇにもなるうなぎが水槽に飼われていました。美味しくないそうです。
The typhoon 12 is now passing west of this district toward north and the wind and rain has bee strong today, Aug.1. Tomorrows forecast tells strong wind and high wave remains still. So, we decided to stay in this hotel tonight. Having nothing to do today, we rented a car to visit Chiran Special  Attack (Kamikaze)  Musium which was built at the Kamikaze attack base of Chiran. From this base some 600 young pilots of around 20 years age took off for nonreturn flight. Reading their last letters to their family made us to have tears in our eyes.

池田湖も雨で霞み、開聞岳は見えず

Some big eels living in the Ikeda Lake were kept in the nearby restaurants. They grow 2m and 20kg, not delicious at all they say.
